Fish Birthday Cake

These fun fish were used as cake toppers and party favors for our Under the Sea Party cake. We prefer serving cupcakes for our kids pool parties. Just because they are easy to make and decorate, doesn't mean they are enjoyed any less than a traditional cake. As you can see the frosting started melting since it was such a warm day. Now I use store bought frosting since it holds up much better outside when it is hot. Get your tropical fish on-line at places like Oriental Trading or Celebrate Express. These fish actually squirt water so they had fun with them in the pool and could then take them home to play with in the bathtub. Kids love cupcakes that are decorated with a toy that they can taken home. Displayed on a cupcake tower, the cupcakes can serve as your party centerpiece as well. You can find these stands at Target, Bed, Bath and Beyond or on-line at Amazon. Mine holds 13 cupcakes, which is the right number for most of our parties. Fun Cupcakes
This creative cupcake gets an extra boost of color with a homemade pink cupcake wrapper. Use your favorite colored scrapbooking paper and trim the edges with a decorative scissors.
