MistyMate is a company that specializes in outdoor misters - all kinds. From personal water misters to patio misting systems. Many of them are very inexpensive so you can have different misters for different areas - on your patio umbrella and outdoor misting stands that can be set near seating areas. Misting systems work on the principle of flash evaporation. 1. Water is forced through a very small nozzle which creates a very fine mist. 2. Once these tiny droplets of water are exposed to the hot air, they quickly absorb the heat and then evaporate. Flash evaporation cools the surrounding outside air. Outdoor misters can drop the temperature by up to 30 degrees F. The idea is that it does not work by getting you wet. The purpose of a water mister is to have the mist evaporate into the air as fast as possible. The flash evaporation is what cools the air. However, most inexpensive models like the personal misters and misting stands don't create as fine a mist so if your are close you will get damp. They have developed outdoor misters for personal use to outdoor misting systems.
