Outdoor Misting Fan

An outdoor misting fan can be put on your porch, out on the patio or on the pool deck. Not only will the misting fan cool the temperature, but the breeze keep the bugs away as well. A couple of things you want to look for are: 1. A Quiet Fan You don't want people to have to talk over a noisy fan. 2. A Very Fine Mist The finer the mist the quicker the evaporation which means a cooler temperature. Many of the residential misting fans, don't have high enough pressure to produce a mist that doesn't get you damp. Now, if the fan is out by the pool, maybe you won't care if you get wet from the fan. 3. Oscillating Fans that move from side to side mist a larger area. 4. Price These outdoor misting fans range in price from $200 to $700. They would be well worth it if the fans were easy to set up, didn't get people wet, and were durable and long lasting. So far the reviews have not proven that these fans are worth the investment.
Fan Mister
A fan mister works by blowing a fine mist into the air. The water then evaporates which then absorbs some of the heat from the air and helps to cool off or drop the air temperature. You may want to consider an outdoor misting fan if you live in an area that has higher humidity - like we do in Georgia. That is due to what is called relative humidity. Basically what it means to you is that the lower the relative humidity is, the more water is vaporized which means more heat ca be removed. If you live in a low humidity area, like Arizona, misting works great without the fans, because of what is called flash evaporation. However, when relative humidity is over 80%, you can achieve the cooling effect and drop in temperature by combining misting with fans. A fan provides conductive cooling - it cools the water to make a chilled mist. If you ice the water supplied by the misting fan you get even cooler temperatures.
Portable Fan Mister
Portable fan misters have a large water tank and have the benefit of being placed anywhere on the pool deck. Since they are not connected to a hose or have an electric cord - they are the best for portability. There is a variable setting for how much mist you prefer. If you don't mind getting wet, set it high and sit close to it. Otherwise lower the setting and move the fan farther away for a drier cooling experience. Personal Battery Operated Fans
We keep battery operated fans and personal misters ready to go for those really hot days or for guests who aren't inclined to get into the pool. This fan also has a misting feature which does help to cool one off more than just a fan option. I love the bright colors on them too! They are available at Amazon but perhaps can be found cheaper at other stores: O2 COOL Water Misting Fan
