Using a solution-dyed acrylic, Sunbrella fabric does not fade and retains its color even after years of sitting out in the sun and rain.

Patio umbrellas made from Sunbrella fabric are mold and stain resistant as well.

This is the fabric we choose when making our most recent patio umbrella purchase. It has a protective finish that is water repellant so that when it rains the water beads up on it. We have a flowering tree that dropped many of it's bright pink petals and later leaves onto the umbrella - but it has not stained at all and still looks brand new.

I like the really tight weave. It blocks the sun and provides excellent UV protection. Depending on what color you choose - it can provide up to 98% UV protection. Light colored fabric provides a little less UV protection than darker colors.

And if you are like us and love being outside and don't mind a little rain or drizzle - it will keep you dry (and your chair cushions) dry as well.

We plan on keeping our outdoor umbrellas out year round which made it all the more important to select a fabric that is durable.

Sunbrella Chair Cushions

The color is permanently sealed into the fibers making it fade-resistant.

However, the fabric is still porous, allowing it to breath so that you are comfortable even in hot and humid weather.

The fabric is protected with a soil and stain resistant finish for easy cleaning. Of course the fabric that is used for Sunbrella chair cushions have a softer feel than the stiff marine fabrics.
