Floating Pool Lights Using Light Up Balloons

I am always looking for a better way to light up the pool at night for evening pool parties. There's a couple of reasons why this isn't an easy task.

One is that since a swimming pool is so large, if you only set out 3-5 lights there isn't enough impact. In fact it looks like a weak attempt that has failed and you are better off not even trying.

Don't even try floating candles ... they are way too small, blow out and bunch up together.

I've seen some really cool, larger floating solar lights - but they are between $50 - $100 a piece so that's not going to work.

We were going to have an evening pool party with my husband's golfing buddies and were trying to figure out some pool party lights. Finally, my husband came up with a great idea for floating pool lights using light up balloons. It's inexpensive, they stay light all evening and we found a way to keep them in place so they don't all bunch together:
